Former Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr who led the Wolverines to a 1997 National Title will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. This is according to Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News.

The QB of the 1997 team Brian Griese made the announcement during a fund raising dinner Saturday night for Mott Children’s Hospital.

Carr went on to thank his players for the honor…

“That’s really how I got (to the Hall),” he said. “You don’t win games unless you have great athletes and people who are willing to play a role.”

This marks the first year that Carr was on the ballot for the Hall of Fame.

Former Michigan receiver and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard was inducted last year.
