Former Lion and Western Michigan tight end Tony Scheffler has announced his retirement according to the Associated Press Wednesday afternoon.

Scheffler’s decision comes after a recent rash of concussions (three over the past four years) and “moderate” interest in him as a free agent after being released by the Lions last season.

During his eight years in the league with both Denver and Detroit, Scheffler accumulated 58 receptions for 3,207 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Now the former second-round pick of the Broncos back in 2006 says he plans to become a real estate agent or an assistant high school football coach in his hometown of Chelsea.

So if you’re potentially looking to sell or buy a house in the Metro Detroit area, Scheffler may be your guy!
