Floyd Mayweather’s ultimate plan of ducking out on a younger Manny Pacquaio for the past five years finally came to fruition last night. The habitual woman beater Mayweather came out on top in the much hyped Mayweather vs. Pacquaio “Fight of the Century” via a unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
The fight wasn’t a stomping by any means but really wasn’t close in the end. Essentially Mayweather did just enough to convince the judges after 12 rounds landing jabs and working his counters. Meanwhile Pacquaio landed only 81 punches throughout the entire match.

At this point it’s unclear if there will be a rematch. There reportedly wasn’t a rematch clause established in the agreement and Mayweather has already gone on record saying he will vacate all of his titles and retire in September. Whether or not that actually happens is still yet to be seen, especially considering the amount of money to be made the second time around.
In the end though it seemed as though all the hype in the fight was left at the door. Once the opening bell rang there was no real intrigue while the match itself seemed to further highlight many of the problems the sport of boxing currently has. Essentially the “Fight of the Century” didn’t do boxing any favors of actually saving the sport from MMA.
