Florida Gulf Coast becomes the first ever 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16

George Mason, Butler, VCU and now Florida GC…

Sunday, the story of the NCAA Tournament continued to make headlines and turn heads as Florida Gulf Coast defeated No. 7 San Diego State University 81-71 becoming the first 15 seeded team to reach the Sweet 16.

Just about 48 hours after taking down No. 1 Georgetown, the Eagles continued Sunday night with the highlight reel plays and no-quit/us against the world attitude punching their ticket to the Round of 16.

Bernard Thompson led the way for the Eagles with 23 points while Sherwood Brown (who’s quickly becoming a household name) had 17 points. Brett Comer notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 assists.

Next up for Florida GC is in-state counterpart Florida who by all means should be their toughest opponent yet.
