The International Basketball Federation known as FIBA approved the participation of NBA players overseas during the lockout.
The announcement was made this past Friday in Geneva, Switzerland according to the Associated Press. It stated that NBA players can play with any team during the lockout however they must return to the NBA once the lockout is over and that they would play internationally at their own risk.
Nets star Deron Williams has already signed a contract to play in Turkey while Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard are still considering their options overseas.
NBAPA union executive Billy Hunter agrees with FIBA’s decision believing that it could pressure NBA commissioner David Stern into working out a deal.
Both sides are expected to meet on Monday.
