We’ve seen real boneheaded mistakes in tonight’s Ravens/Broncos opener but this one without a doubt takes the cake.
In the fourth quarter Denver’s Danny Trevathan intercepted a Joe Flacco pass and promptly took it back for six points.
Or did he?
Instead of holding onto the ball and handing it to the ref when he got into the end zone, Trevathan dropped the ball at the one yard line and instantly joined the Leon Lett club of football ineptitude. And not only that the ball bounced out of the back of the end zone, gave the Ravens a touch back and an eventual touchdown on the ensuing drive.
At the very least Trevathan became a star for high school football highlight reels on what not to do.
