Matt Charboneau of the Detroit News cites reports surrounding an HBO
One of those players is Stanley McClover who names Michigan State University as one of those schools whose boosters gave him cash.
In fact McClover states that he received cash and handshakes from boosters at Michigan State and LSU, he received sexual favors from Ohio State and was given a backpack full of cash from Auburn.
Michigan State has said they were unaware of any potential problems.
“Our compliance office was never alerted to this alleged handshake,” associate athletic director John Lewandowski said Wednesday.
McClover spent three seasons in the NFL with Carolina and Houston. He played at Auburn in 2004 and 2005 after switching his commitment from Ohio State after asking for money and having it delivered to him in a backpack.
“I literally almost passed out, I couldn’t believe it was true,” he said on the show. “I felt like I owed them.”
However several former players don’t believe McClover was paid, this is according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Junior Rosegreen called McClover “a storyteller” and “a damn liar.”
