Eastern Finals Set: Rangers beat Caps in Game 7

It will be a battle of the New York Metropolitan area as the New York Rangers beat the Washington Capitals 2-1 Saturday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals from Madison Square Garden.

Brad Richards got the Blueshirts on the board first and Michael Del Zotto got the game clincher in the third as Hart and Vezina Trophy finalist Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves to win his second straight game seven.

The Rangers were able to survive the 8th seeded Ottawa Senators in a first round game 7 and now go onto meet the New Jersey Devils, a sixth seed and rematch of 1994’s Eastern Conference Finals.

The Rangers ended up winning that series in seven games on their way to eventually win the Stanley Cup.

The Rangers and Devils will begin the Eastern Conference Finals Monday night from MSG.
