Draper couldn't see a player boycott in the NHL

The alleged player boycott on the Pistons could seemingly happen on another team or another league.

But not in the NHL.

Well that’s according to Red Wings veteran forward Kris Draper.

Eric Lacy of the Detroit News gives Drapers take on what happened with Pistons head coach John Kuester and the players…

“I’m not going to comment on what’s going on with them and their organization or what happened there,” he said of the Pistons. “But with the guys that I’ve played with over 20-some years from junior hockey to NHL, I couldn’t see that (happening).”

The Red Wings would be hit hard on the ice if they experience anything near that kind of circumstance, Draper said.

“If you didn’t have six guys show up, obviously with the (salary) cap and stuff, we’re playing short-handed for sure,” Draper said.

Draper cannot recall any incident happening in the NHL like the one the Pistons are going through right now. Draper however remembers a story that former NHLer Stu Barnes told him about his days playing for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League.

“You ever hear that story?…The whole team (walked out on the coach).”
