Downtown’s 2013 NFL Draft – FINAL EDITION

Eric-Fisher

1. Kansas City Chiefs – OT from Central Michigan – Eric Fisher – Pro Football Talk is saying that the Chiefs know who they’re picking and it’s being said Fisher is that guy.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars – OT from Texas A&M – Luke Joeckel – With Fisher gone and possibly the best player in the draft in front of them, the Jaguars take their franchise LT here. They can’t pass him up.

3. Oakland Raiders – DT from Utah – Star Loutelli – The smart move is to take a DT here for the Raiders but they could surprise us all and select Geno Smith or another QB at this pick. Speculation is that they’ll trade out of this pick but if they don’t, I still believe in a DT here. Consensus is that Loutelli is the top DT and if that’s true then Loutelli is that guy.

4. Philadelphia Eagles – DE/OLB from Oregon – Dion Jordan – With Joeckel and Fisher gone, they need help with their pass rushing despite the addition of Connor Barwin. With Jordan and Chip Kelly having a friendship outside of the football field, they can’t pass him up.

5. San Diego Chargers (trade with Detroit) – OT from Oklahoma – Lane Johnson – They need a LT. I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade with Oakland or Philadelphia but with Detroit on the clock and Johnson on the board, I think the Lions hold off and trade down. They get the 2nd round pick and 4th round pick belonging to the Chargers.

6. Cleveland Browns – OG from Alabama – Chance Warmack – They have to go with the best player on the board here. Milliner is too much of a risk with the injuries and any other CB is a reach. Warmack fills a need.

7. New York Jets (trade with Arizona) – WR from West Virginia – Tavon Austin – They have a plan for him. I believe they swap the 9th pick to move up 2 spots and exchange a mid round pick to make this move for Austin.

8. Atlanta Falcons (trade with Buffalo) – DE/OLB from LSU – Barkevious Mingo – They want to move up and get him or Tyler Eifert. I’m expecting them to move up and grab Mingo to replace Edwards and Abraham who were not brought back to the Falcons.

9. Arizona Cardinals (trade with New York Jets) – DE from BYU – Ziggy Ansah – Cooper is bit of a reach here and if Ansah is the player the “experts” believe then the Cardinals are considering themselves lucky because they get an extra mid-round pick and a supposed elite player.

10. Tennessee Titans – CB from Alabama – Dee Milliner – With Mingo gone, I believe that the Titans get a CB to play alongside Cortland Finnegan who by the way is set to be a free agent in 2014.

11. Detroit Lions (trade with San Deigo) – OG from North Carolina – Jonathan Cooper – The Lions trade back and gain an extra 2nd and 4th round pick to still draft an offensive lineman. Jarvis Jones, Bjoern Werner and Xavier Rhodes are all strong possibilities here.

12. Miami Dolphins – CB from Florida State – Xavier Rhodes – Without bringing back Sean Smith they still need a corner back. Rhodes makes sense here.

13. New York Jets – QB from West Virginia – Geno Smith – They will be looking at a QB in this draft. Smith is on the board, you now get Smith and Austin…how perfect is that for Rex?

14. Carolina Panthers – DT from Florida – Sharrif Floyd – I like Floyd over Loutelli but the NFL scouts don’t. Floyd drops to 14th much like Nick Fairley did for Detroit a few years back.

15. New Orleans Saints – OLB from Alabama – Jarvis Jones – They need an OLB and Jones makes sense once Mingo is off the board.

16. St. Louis Rams – S from Texas – Kenny Vaccaro – It’s being speculated that the Rams look at defense here with Tavon Austin off the board. Vaccaro makes sense and would be a starter for them.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers – WR from Tennessee – Cordarrelle Patterson – They need help defensively but they also need someone to replace Mike Wallace. Patterson makes sense.

18. Minnesota Vikings (trade with Dallas Cowboys) – ILB from Notre Dame – Manti Te’o – Cowboys gain a second round pick here and the Vikings take Manti Te’o.

19. New York Giants – FS from Florida – Eric Reid – Kenny Phillips went elsewhere this offeseason and the Giants need a replacement for him. Reid is the best free safety in the draft.

20. Chicago Bears – ILB from LSU – Kevin Minter – Could he be a steal considering the hype of Manti Te’o? The Bears can’t get Te’o so they take Minter to replace Urlacher.

21. Cincinnati Bengals – OT from Alabama – DJ Fluker – With Andre Smith not back, that’s a bad sign in my eyes. They need a replacement and Fluker is that guy.

22. St. Louis Rams – WR from Clemson – DeAndre Hopkins – They passed on a WR on their first pick of this year’s draft so now they take one here. Hopkins is a huge upgrade for them.

23. Dallas Cowboys (trade with Minnesota) – DT from Missouri – Sheldon Richardson – This defense is moving to a 4-3 and adding another DT is a must. Richardson makes the most sense.

24. Indianapolis Colts – DE from Florida State – Bjoern Werner – He’s the best DE on the board and the Colts would be stupid on letting him go by.

25. Minnesota Vikings – CB from Washington – Desmond Trufant – With Antoine Winfield is gone, you take Trufant who in my opinion is the best CB in this years draft. He has no injury concerns and is better than Rhodes. The Vikings get a steal in my opinion.

26. Green Bay Packers – TE from Notre Dame – Tyler Eifert – With Finley having issues, you give him the year to prove himself and if he doesn’t you move him or let him go. Eifert is still here and it makes sense with the loss of Greg Jennings.

27. Houston Texans – WR from California – Kennan Allen – Allen is still on the board and has injury concerns but the Texans will take him.

28. Denver Broncos – DT from North Carolina – Sylvester Williams – I like Hankins who I previously had slotted here but after watching Williams last night from his pro day, I’m impressed. The Broncos should be too.

29. New England Patriots – DE from Texas A&M – Damontre Moore – With Moore on the board, he’ll be considered the best player on the board. No way do the Patriots pass him up.

30. Buffalo Bills (trade with Atlanta) – QB from USC – Matt Barkley – They’re in love with this guy. The Bills take a huge trade offer from Atlanta and take the USC QB.

31. San Francisco 49ers – CB from Mississippi State – Jonathan Banks – We established last night that Banks could possibly play safety. If that’s the case then here’s you’re replacement for Dashon Goldson.

32. Baltimore Ravens – OLB from Georgia – Alec Ogletree – Ogletree is projected to play either OLB or ILB. They’ll take him because of recent arrest to Rolando McClain.
