Dorf and Downtown Pick’em All: NFL Week 3

Each week Adam “Dorf” Waltersdorf and “Downtown” Russell Brown will pick every game of the NFL schedule against the spread. They will be joined each week by a different member of the Majors Sports Network crew who will select the game as well.

This week’s guest picker is TMSNX Hockey Analyst James “JNC” Christopher.

Thursday Night Football

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants

Dorf-

Giants and Under

The Redskins surprised us last week by defeating the Rams. However on a short week traveling to New Jersey to face the Giants won’t be a game that they can win.

Downtown-

Giants and Over

The Giants can’t afford another loss or it would be a safe assumption that they’re season is over. They have to figure it out and a team like the Redskins would make sense.

 

JNC-

Giants and Over

The Giants will bounce back after two tough losses and put the game out of reach.

*These picks were recorded before the contest was played, even though the picks didn’t come out until after.

Sunday Early Games

Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys

Dorf-

Dallas and Under

Brandon Weeden isn’t very good but neither are the Falcons. Dallas will find a way to win at Jerry Jones’ Fun Palace.

Downtown-

Falcons and Under

Without Tony Romo, the Cowboys are going to struggle. I like Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and that offense right now. They have a nice defense and should win.

JNC-

Falcons and Under

Dallas won’t be able to keep pace scoring with Brandon Weeden. Also Dallas will be facing a better offense in Atlanta.

Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans

Dorf-

Indianapolis and Under

The Colts have been pitiful so far this year, but they cannot continue to be that bad. They will get their rebound started today against the Titans.

Downtown-

Colts and Over

No way can the Colts start 0-3! Luck is too good to lose to a team like the Titans.

JNC-

Colts and Over

Andrew Luck will have a big game and Marcus Mariota will not be able to match him.

Oakland Raiders @ Cleveland Browns

Dorf-

Oakland and Under

The Raiders haven’t been as bad as expected so far and the Browns have decided to go back to Josh McCown for some reason. So I will take the Raiders.

Downtown-

Raiders and Over

This game will be a run heavy game. The Raiders have Latavius Murray and the Browns have Isiah Crowell. Neither one of them are stellar backs but both teams have a terrible run defense.

JNC-

Oakland and Under

Derek Carr will win the battle of the young quarterbacks. He simply has more valuable options on offense.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens

Dorf-

Bengals and Over

I really, really like the Cincinnati Bengals this year and I am not so high on the Ravens. Cincinnati and Andy Dalton will get the road win and score a lot of points doing it.

Downtown-

Bengals and Under

This game is a trap and it’s going to hurt my prediction. I’m going to say the Bengals because of the injuries sustained on the Ravens defense.

JNC-

Cincinnati and Over

It will be a close scoring game, but Cincinnati has the offense to beat a lowly looking Ravens defense.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New England Patriots

Dorf-

New England and Under

The Patriots are significantly better than the Jaguars but are they 14 points better. I don’t think so.

Downtown-

Patriots and Over

I feel bad for the Jags who have to travel all the way up to Foxbourgh to get beat..bad too. Give me Gronk and Brady all day in this match-up.

JNC-

It shouldn’t be a close game, but expect Jacksonville to put a decent amount of points on the board. Whether early or in garbage time.

New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers

Dorf-

Carolina and Under

Drew Brees is hurt and will miss the game. This spread should be more in the favor of the Panthers.

Downtown-

Carolina and Under

The Saints don’t have Drew Brees and not having Jimmy Graham is clearly showing their offensive struggles. I’ll take the Superman Cam Newton and the Panthers ‘alright’ defense.

JNC-

Whether it’s Brees not playing like Brees or not, this NO defense doesn’t look too good and now they have a tough divisional opponent to face. Carolina Cam all day

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Jets

Dorf-

Jets and Under

The Jets have been a huge surprise for me showcasing an elite defense and damn good running game. They will continue that by running over the hapless Eagles.

Downtown-

Jets and Under

I don’t believe the Jets will have Chris Ivory for this game but I don’t like Sam Bradford having to try and beat the Jets defense. He looked terrible last week so I do believe the Jets will win this game.

JNC-

Let’s face it, the Eagles haven’t done anything offensively. I wouldn’t expect them to snap out of it this week against the Goddam Jets.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Houston Texans

Dorf-

Tampa Bay and Under

I think that Houston will still win the game but not by a touchdown. Neither team is any good and this game might be hard to watch.

Downtown-

Buccaneers and Over

I wonder who will throw more, the Bucs or the Texans. Right now, neither team looks very good. The spread is too much for the Texans to cover right now so I’ll take the Bucs.

JNC-

Fresh off a big win in New Orleans, look for Tampa Bay to build on that as they face a Texans team who is also struggling to put up offense.

San Diego Chargers @ Minnesota Vikings

Dorf-

San Diego and Over

The Chargers didn’t look good last week after looking great in week one in their comeback win over the Lions. They will throw the ball all over the Vikings, who will have trouble covering Keenan Allen and company.

Downtown-

Vikings and Over

Both of these teams have been pretty good this year or maybe I’m just a biased Lions fan. With the spread the way it is, I like the Vikings.

JNC-

San Diego and Under

I see Philip Rivers having a bounce back game and continuing his connection with Stevie Johnson.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ St. Louis Rams

Dorf-

Steelers and Over

The Rams can get to the quarterback at will. However that has never phased Ben Roethlisberger and he will beat the Rams like a rented mule.

Downtown-

Steelers and Over

I don’t believe the Rams have a chance. Bell is returning for the Steelers who already have the best offense in the NFL.

JNC-

Pittsburgh and Under

I see Big Ben wheeling and dealing but between Pittsburgh and St. Louis I don’t see them beating the spread.

Sunday Late Games

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals will be the team to beat this year and the 49ers won’t be able to stop them.

Downtown-

Cardinals and Over

I don’t buy in the 49ers being very good so give me the Cardinals and how well Palmer has been playing.

JNC-

Cardinals and Over

Arizona proves year after year it can put a solid product on the field. This will continue against their divisional opponent. Carson Palmer is looking good to start the season.

Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins

Dorf-

Miami and Under

The Dolphins have been pretty underwhelming this year so far. I don’t think that will continue as they will get going against a solid Bills team at home.

Downtown-

Miami and Over

With the way the spread is, I have to pick against my awesome Bills

JNC-

Miami is still struggling to find some consistency at running back, but their defense will be solid for them against the Bills this week.

Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks

Dorf-

Seattle and Over

Jay Cutler is hurt and the Bears are already terrible. This mean Seattle will get their first win of the season and will run up the score, taking out their frustrations on the poor Bears.

Downtown-

Seahawks and Over

Poor Jimmy Clausen.

JNC-

Seattle and Over

Although Seattle started 0-2, don’t let that fool you. I expect their defense to stop Chicago and put some numbers on the board.

Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions

Dorf-

The Lions are on their way to 0-3 after going 11-5 last year and making the playoffs.

Downtown-

Broncos and Over

Sorry Lions fans, I have to go with the Broncos. I have them losing this game in my season preview and I’m sticking with it, especially with the way this team has been playing.

JNC-

Denver and Over

I don’t make this pick based on Denver being that good so far, I pick this because Detroit has been that bad. Peyton Manning is smart enough to pick Detroit’s defense apart.

Monday Night Football


Kansas City Chiefs @ Green Bay Packers

Dorf-

Kansas City and Under

I think that Kansas City is just a better team than the Packers,  especially if Eddie Lacy isn’t going to be healthy. Kansas City will beat the Packers at Lambeau and look good doing it.

Downtown-

Packers and Under

In Green Bay and the Chiefs are an okay team. The Packers are looking to pounce on a team and I think this is the week they do it.

JNC-

Packers and Over

Rodgers will get it done. Although I think the Chiefs could keep it close. The emergence of Travis Kelce gives them a legit red zone threat.
