Spanish Football President Luis Rubiales, who became the center of controversy after forcibly kissing Jenni Hermoso during Spain’s World Cup celebration has finally resigned from his position.
Rubiales made his intentions to step down known during an interview with Piers Morgan saying “Yes, I’m going to. Yes, I’m going to [resign]. I’m going to, because I cannot continue my work.”
Rubiales also cited conversations with his father and daughters as further reasoning for his decision to step down and widespread condemnation and pressure to do so.
“Yeah, my father… my daughters. I spoke with them. It’s not… they know it’s not a question about me… some friends, really close to me. and they said to me, ‘Luis, now you have to focus on your dignity and to continue your life…”
Rubiales can point to coming to Jesus’ moments all he wants, the fact of the matter is he was already suspending him for 90 pending their own investigation. More importantly, 56 players, including all of the 23-strong World Cup-winning squad, signed the joint statement refusing to step foot on the pitch for Spain if the 46-year-old Rubiales didn’t step down effectively taking the power away from the shit stain themselves.
Good riddance.
