The Sporting News has ranked their top sports cities in the country. Detroit (coupled with Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti) ended up making the list finishing 11th.
The evaluation according to the Sporting News went from the Summer of 2010 through the Summer of 2011. It based its rankings on various categories, “including but not limited to won-lost records, postseason appearances, applicable power ratings, number of teams and attendance.”

7. Atlanta (HA!)
8. Los Angeles (They have a really good NFL franchise there… Oh wait…)
9. Miami (I don’t think most residents of Miami know they have a baseball team called the Marlins)
10. Tampa / St. Petersburg (Hmm… obviously they haven’t been watching very many Rays games and the numerous amounts of fans in attendance at Tropicana field)
