The Detroit Pistons reportedly remain interested in acquiring guard Tyler Herro following his inclusion in the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Detroit “[continues] to express trade interest” in Herro as Milwaukee evaluates its options following the deal. Stein reported that the Bucks are expected to listen to offers for the 26-year-old, though the team could ultimately keep him heading into the 2026-27 season.
Herro arrived in Milwaukee as part of the package sent by Miami in exchange for Antetokounmpo. The Bucks now face decisions regarding the direction of the roster as they transition into a new era.
According to Chris Haynes, Herro was excited about the opportunity to play for his hometown team. The Milwaukee native reportedly had long envisioned returning home at some point during his NBA career.
Pistons Previously Linked to Herro
Before Herro was dealt to Milwaukee, Detroit reportedly viewed him as one of its top offseason targets.
The Pistons were also linked to Norman Powell, Coby White, and Isaiah Joe as the organization looked to add another scoring threat alongside Cade Cunningham.
Detroit’s front office has made it clear that adding perimeter shooting and secondary shot creation remains a priority after the team’s playoff appearance last season.
What Herro Would Bring
Herro has developed into one of the league’s most productive offensive guards.
The former Heat standout would give Detroit another player capable of creating his own shot while providing spacing around Cunningham. His ability to play both on and off the ball could make him an attractive fit in the Pistons’ backcourt.
Whether Milwaukee ultimately moves Herro remains to be seen, but league insiders continue to connect Detroit to the veteran guard as the offseason unfolds.
