Detroit City FC got some good news ahead of today’s match against the Sacramento Republic, Yazeed Matthews will be available despite his red card last weekend in extra time against North Carolina after an Independent Review Panel overturned the penalty.
The USL Championship announced today the red card issued to Detroit City FC forward Yazeed Matthews on July 20 during its contest against North Carolina had been overturned by the Independent Review Panel.
Following the appeal, Matthews will be available for selection when Detroit hosts Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday night at Keyworth Stadium.
Matthews received the straight red in the 90’+4 for what was originally thought to have been abusive language, however, that was never confirmed nor any real detail about why the DCFC forward was ejected to begin with.
Either way, Detroit City FC looks to secure their first win since June 29 and their first at Keyworth since June 15 against the Charleston Battery.
