It looks like Marlins fans are finally going to be free of Jeffrey Loria.

According to Bloomberg’s Scott Soshnick, the partnership of former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and former Florida governor and republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush have won the bidding for the Miami Marlins.

A group led by former Florida governor Jeb Bush and former New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter have won the auction for the Miami Marlins baseball team, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

The person requested anonymity because the sale contract hasn’t been signed. The person declined to say how much the group paid for the team, which is owned by New York art dealer Jeff Loria.

Although neither Bush or Jeter have confirmed the reports Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald confirmed the good news for south Florida baseball fans.

And yes, any news regarding new owners for the Marlins is good news. Loria was arguably not only the worst owner in baseball but the worst owner in professional sports who seemed more concerned with his art collection than baseball team.
