According to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com, Red Wingsโ€™ forwards Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom will still be held out of Fridayโ€™s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets and will more then likely be held out for Saturdayโ€™s game against Nashville.

Khan said the head coach Mike Babcock isnโ€™t sure either Holmstrom or Datsyuk will be able to return however Monday nightโ€™s game against the Rangers remains a possibility.

โ€œOur big thing here is we can afford to be patient with the people that are injured because weโ€™re winning games,โ€ Babcock said. โ€œIf you werenโ€™t winning games maybe guys would play when theyโ€™re still a little uncomfortable. Our guys have been cleared to play but itโ€™s just a matter of they donโ€™t feel like they can at this point.โ€

Holmstrom says that despite feeling better, he still canโ€™t really shoot the puck.

Both Holmstrom and Datsyuk are recovering from broken right hands.

There is good news though, veteran forward Mike Modano who lacerated his wrist on November 25th may be back sooner than early to mid Marchโ€ฆ

โ€œItโ€™s getting closer. I think itโ€™s week to week, itโ€™s getting better,โ€ Modano said. โ€œWeโ€™ve always looked at a 12-week program. Iโ€™m just over nine weeks. Weโ€™ll have a big talk about it when Iโ€™m at the 12-week mark, Feb. 20-21. Itโ€™s feeling good, but thereโ€™s a lot of conditioning yet to do, just getting up to speed with these guys.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s moving in the right direction. Flexibility is really good. Itโ€™s just that being shut down for seven weeks in a cast, Iโ€™m trying to get that strength back.โ€

Here is tomorrow nightโ€™s lineup according to Khan with Jimmy Howard starting in goalโ€ฆ
