Dana White promises sanctions against those involved in the post UFC 229 pandemonium

UFC boss Dana White promised that any who were involved in brawl that took placed after the Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov main event at UFC 229 Saturday night will face sanction. White also added that “these guys are in big trouble.”

The chaos ensued in immediate aftermath of Khabib’s victory over McGregor in the fourth round last night when the Russian fighter scored the win with a vicious rear-naked choke. As soon as the the ref called the fight, Khabib threw his mouth piece and started gesturing towards McGregor’s corner before jumping over the octagon and into the crowd. When this happened, members of Khabib’s team went into the octagon themselves and reportedly started taking shots at McGregor.

During his own post-fight presser, Khabib apologized for what happened but wasn’t shy about pointing the finger at McGregor’s corner for what happened claiming a bunch of shit talk about his (Khabib’s) country and religion.

Meanwhile, members of Khabib’s team were arrested in the aftermath but were released when McGregor refused to press charges.

As far as the UFC consequences go, White said that the Nevada State Athletic Commission was investigating adding that “These guys are in big trouble. It is going to be ugly. We have got to see what happens here with the Nevada [Athletic] Commission, and we will figure that out.”

White also mentioned that if any of the guys who entered the cage to take shots at McGregor were under contract with UFC, they have most certainly fought their last fight in the promotion: “If they are guys who are under contract with the UFC, they will not fight [again]. This is some street [stuff]. This isn’t sport.”

The UFC opted not to put the belt around Khabib in the octagon as White cited safety concerns not only with the fans but Khabib who the UFC boss thought they’d be lucky to get him out of the arena without being pelted with debris. Meanwhile, the NSAC withheld  the purse for Khabib assuming pending the investigation while McGregor’s purse was paid out according to White.
