UPDATE 2:30 PM ET: Adrian Peterson has indicated that he will play this weekend. “I’m able to release a lot of stress through sports.”
UPDATE 1:03 PM ET: The child is Adrian Peterson’s two-year old son and is not expected to survive his injuries. City Pages, is reporting that the child could be taken off life support tonight.
UPDATE 12:50 PM ET: After conflicting reports regarding the identity of the child and whether or there’s a relation to Adrian Peterson, Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Peterson’s father has confirmed that the child is A.P.’s son but not Adrian Peterson Jr. as initially thought. Not that this new development changes in any way just how sickening the story is.
TMZ reported reported this morning that Vikings running back Adrian Peterson left practice traveling to Sioux Falls to deal with an urgent medical situation regarding a family member.
The Argus Leader then reported that EMT’s were called Wednesday to a home in Sioux Falls in response to a child suffering from injuries “consistent with abuse” while TMZ further added that Peterson Jr., (believed to be the 2-year old of Adrian Peterson) was initially unresponsive and the injuries mentioned were head in fact head injuries. It was also reported that Joseph Patterson, who was assumed to be the boyfriend of Peterson’s child’s mother was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant.
