According to Fox59 in Indiana, Jim Irsay the outspoken owner of the Indianapolis Colts was arrested Sunday night for OWI and possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest happened around 11:40 p.m. Sunday at 131st Street and Horseferry Road, according to the Hamilton County Jail officials. He faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. A source tells FOX59′s Russ McQuaid that Irsay had pills with him.

The Colts also released the following statement on their owners arrest:

“We are gathering information at this time regarding last night’s incident involving Jim Irsay. The team will issue additional statements when the facts are sorted and we are aware of the next steps to this process. Many fans have reached out to express their concern and we appreciate their support.”

In addition ESPN is reporting that Irsay faces four felony counts of possession because of the prescription drugs allegedly found in the car. Mike Freeman also writes via Twitter that like the players, owners are also subjected to the NFL’s personal conduct policy which I’m sure carries heavy fines since you can’t really suspend an owner.
