Billed as Kurt Angle‘s ‘final independent appearance’ before he joins the WWE Hall of Fame and presumably a regular figure on WWE TV, the former Olympic champion went up against Cody Rhodes at Northeast Wrestling‘s Wrestlefest XXI in Waterbury, Connecticut.
By the looks of it too it didn’t disappoint. For one there was plenty of well known names wrestling including Ryback and Mike Bennett with Maria Kanellis among others plus an appearance by Jerry ‘the King’ Lawler.
Then there was this…

Despite the failed attempt from the top of the cage, Rhodes went on to beat Angle after reversing an ankle lock attempt.
Afterwards Angle thanked the crowd.
@RealKurtAngle put on a helluva show tonight! Thank you @newwrestling1 and thank you Kurt! #ClassAct #HOF pic.twitter.com/n1dwiIx23C
