The Lions have completed their roster trim-down to 75 players ahead of Thursday’s 4 PM ET deadline according to DetroitLions.com.

Two notable cuts include for 2012 6th-round draft pick CB Jonte Green and K Giorgio Tavecchio.

Green, who played in 24 games over the past two season with the Lions found himself behind Darius Slay, Rashean Mathis, Bill Bentley, Nevin Lawson, Cassius Vaughn, and Chris Greenwood on the depth chart and was unable to pull ahead of any one of those players according to Tim Twentyman. Green though can sign with the Lions’ practice squad after August 30th when the team makes a final cut down to 53 players.

Meanwhile with Giorgio Tavechhio getting cut, seventh-round pick Nate Freese will be the Lions’ place kicker heading into the 2014 season.

The Lions also placed safety DeJon Gomes on injured reserve after suffering a week injury during week 2 of the preseason schedule against Oakland.
