If the Tigers’ top prospect Casey Mize keeps mowing through the minor league competition at the pace he’s going, it won’t be long before fans see him blowing away batters at the Major League level.

Monday, the former No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft made his debut for the Erie SeaWolves Madduxing his way to a 98 pitch complete game no-hitter against the Altoona Curve.

After shaking off some early nerves when he plunked the first batter he saw, Mize went on to sit down the next 20 hitters before issuing a walk on a 3-2 count in the seventh. Obviously to say he looked would be an understatement, but it certainly looks like the former Auburn Tiger is picking up right where he left off when it came to total domination of the competition.

Prior to getting the Double-A call-up, Mize allowed just one run while striking out 25 batters in 26 innings down in Lakeland. He also managed to retire and astonishing 76 of the 85 batters he faced in Single-A.

In any sense, the young Tigers arms seem to be progressing nicely. Last week, the organization’s No. 10 prospect Alex Faedo helped the SeaWolves to a combined no-hitter after pitching seven strong innings.
