The Capitals had a golden opportunity Thursday night to regain their stranglehold on the Eastern Conference Finals and put the Lightning on the edge of elimination. Instead it was Tampa Bay who doubled-up’d Washington by a final 4-2 while turning the best-of-seven to a best-of-three with the series now tied two-games a piece.
And aside from the Caps’ series lead falling victim tonight to Andrei Vasilevskiy’s 36 saves, Alex Ovechkin’s still met its maker as the Russian superstar introduced it to the crossbar in frustration.

Anyways, the Capitals and Lightning resume the the Eastern Conference finals Saturday night as Ovechkin looks to employ a new supply of sticks.
