The Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators pulled off a blockbuster Wednesday afternoon swapping defensemen P.K. Subban for Shea Weber.

In the straight up deal, the Predators parted with their former captain in Weber who’s signed through the 2021 season at just over $7.8 million per.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens who’ve seemingly been trying to move Subban for months part with his contract that pays out a cap hit of $9 million through the 2021 season. If the Habs were also going to move Subban they would’ve had to do so before July 1st when his no-movement clause kicked in.
