Can Denard Robinson still be the explosive player that he was last season in Michigan’s new offense? I would say the jury is still out despite rushing for 98 yards and rushing for 46.
“We only ran 39 plays,” center David Molk told ESPN.com Big Ten blogger Brian Bennett “Last year, that was barely half a game for us.”
So the Wolverines are confident Robinson will bounce back. “I thought he managed the offense very well for the first time out,” Borges said of Robinson. “He didn’t create the big plays he’s used to, but our tailbacks did. As long as somebody does, we’ll be fine. You’ll see that part of his game surface eventually.”
Things don’t get easier for Robinson and the rest of the Wolverines this weekend when Michigan takes on Notre Dame under the lights of The Big House. However it seems that any week Robinson is poised for a big game.
“Last year, Denard had too many big plays against our defense,” Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said this week. “So we’ll be looking for answers towards keeping him in that realm where he doesn’t take over the game.”
