Calvin Johnson returns to practice, could cap off historic season this weekend

According to MLive.com’s Anwar Richardson, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson returned to practice Friday after sitting out the previous two due to a sore Achilles.

Despite the injury all signs are pointing to Johnson playing this weekend against Green Bay in which the Lions can clinch the five spot in the NFC heading into the playoffs.

Aside from the playoff positioning, which by all accounts is the most important factor in Megatron playing a good game, there is a little more on the line this Sunday in Green Bay.

Heading into Sunday, Johnson has 85 receptions for 1,437 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Now according to NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert only three other receivers in NFL history have garnered across the board numbers like Johnson has this season. With that in mind, Megatron only needs 63 receiving yards to become the fifth player ever to get at least 1,500 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

Now of course receivers after 1978 are going to have an advantage when the league went to 16 games but there really is no denying that Johnson has had a freakishly good season.

Louis Delmas back at practice but not really practicing

Safety Louis Delmas was back at Lions practice Friday doing some stretching but really not taking part in drills.

Delmas told the media that he isn’t expecting to play on Sunday in Green Bay.
