Despite a late surge from Philip Rivers and the Chargers, the Denver Broncos held on to beat San Diego 24-17 in the AFC Divisional Game from Mile High.
The Chargers were able to put together a 17 point 4th quarter after falling behind 17-0 heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Rivers led the way and finished with 217 yards and 2 touchdowns while Keenan Allen had 6 receptions for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns.
But it wasn’t enough.
Peyton Manning kept his team ahead throwing for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns while balancing out a nice run/pass option. Knowshon Moreno had 23 rushes for 82 yards and a touchdown with Julius Thomas accumulated 6 receptions for 76 yards helping propel the Broncos into the AFC Title Game next weekend against the Patriots.
But not only that we get to see at least one more Tom Brady/Peyton Manning matchup.
Currently Brady is 2-1 against Manning in playoff meetings. This includes a 1-1 record in AFC title games.
