Brandon Boykin traded from Eagles to Steelers

Brandon Boykin

After having one of the best seasons for any corner back in 2013, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded corner back Brandon Boykin to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is somewhat of a surprising move as he has been one of the better players on the Eagles defense, but then again with Chip Kelly is it really that surprising he trades away a good player?

Brandon Boykin is 25-years old and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was highly considered one of the best cornerback prospects in the draft but dropped due to some injury concerns and his size.

However, he’s lived up to the hype as he’s played in all 48 games over his first three seasons and has already recorded seven interceptions. The Steelers will give up a conditional 2016 fifth round pick in the NFL Draft to help their secondary that has taken a tumble this off-season. Players like Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor retired from the team and left some pretty big holes to fill. The Steelers hope that Boykin can fill one of those holes.

Here’s Boykin confirming the trade on his Twitter page:
