12/13/12
Phoenix (11-12-3) @ Detroit (19-8-1)
Detroit is 8-1-1 in their past ten games, and look to bounce back from a tough loss to Boston at home Monday, they welcome in the Coyotes who despite recent success have been playing very sub par. The Wings also welcome back defenseman Kyle Quincey who had been sidelined with a concussion for the past three weeks. Jakub Kindl will sit for Quincey.
In the first period it was a very bland affair, with Phoenix putting up 5 shots to Detroits 8.
In the second, is where it opened up however, with Phoenix on the PK, Gustav Nyquist (3) scored from the faceoff dot (A: White). It wouldn’t stop there, as again on the Powerplay, Niklas Kronwall (5) scored with a big slap shot (A: Zetterberg, White). To make it a 3 for 5 night on the PP, Nik Kronwall (6) again at 13:35, just three minutes after his last one.
In the third, the Wings seemed to just play lazy hockey to protect their lead, but it worked out for them as they still allowed zero goals to give Howard another shutout.
