12/10/12
Boston (14-9-4) @ Detroit (18-8-1)
In some much needed relief, Niklas Kronwall returns to action tonight on the blueline, he will return to the first pairing next to Ian White.
Boston, who started out stronger than any team in the League, hit a big wall and has barely remained above .500, and only because of a strong effort the past few games.
The game started quickly, and the Bruins did what every road team loves to do, scored first. Milan Lucic (12) beat Gustavsson top corner from the crease (A: Horton, Krejci). The Red Wings seemed to be struggling to find a rhythm, but the grind line did it beautifully, with Justin Abdelkader (3) scoring on a slap shot from the blue line (A: Emmerton, Tootoo).
The second and third periods were washes, with neither team having many scoring chances or getting powerplays, however late in the third, Nik Kronwall got called for a tripping violation with 0:36 left.
In Overtime, it would cost them, with less than a minute in, Marc Savard (6) scored for the Bruins from along the goal line near the boards to seal it (A: Chara, Krejci).
