The Detroit Red Wings faced off against the St. Louis Blues in an attempt to get a win. They came out in the first and got decimated by the Blues, being outhit 9-2. But, they also got to Halak, As Danny Cleary (2) put one past just over halfway through the period. 30 seconds later, Todd Bertuzzi (1) lit the lamp and gave the wings a two goal edge. Evgeny Grachev (1) scored with just over three minutes left in the period.

Twelve seconds into the second period, Todd Bertuzzi (2) beat Halak once again, making it 3-2. Seven minutes later however, St. Louis made it a one goal game again as TJ Oshie (1) slipped a backhand past Howard.

In the third period though, the Wings put the Blues to bed, as four minutes in, Pavel Datsyuk (1) scored on a breakaway, for his first of the year. Less than a minute later, Drew Miller (1) fired a slap shot that bested Halak from the top of the right circle. Andy McDonald (2) tried to rally the Blues with a goal just inside the halfway mark of the period, but it wouldn’t be enough, as Ian White (1) popped in an empty netter from the other side of center ice.

Red Wings beat the division rival St. Louis Blues, 6-3.

Notes: DET RW Mikael Samuelsson left with a pulled groin, is out for 3 weeks. He will be replaced with Jan Mursak. Danny Cleary now has 6 points through 3 games.

Minnesota was looking down the barrel of a 0-3 start to their season, but they won a very tight game in Dallas. MIN 4 – DAL 3

Notes: Parise and Suter both had goals.

Carolina (1-3-0) @ LA (3-1-0)

LA Finally got some major output, scoring 6 goals against Cam Ward and the Hurricanes. LAK 6 – CAR 2

Columbus (3-0-0) @ Toronto (1-1-1)

Columbus keeps rolling on and on, advancing to a 3-0 record in a shootout win over Toronto. CBJ 4 – TOR 3 SO

New York (1-3-0) @ Florida (1-2-0)

The winless Islanders finally get a good performance from their netminder, as he earns a shutout in the Sunshine state. NYI 3 – FLA 0

Pittsburgh (2-2-0) @ Philadelphia (2-1-0)

The first battle of Pennsylvania for the year had the 2-1 Penguins looking to shake down the Flyers, however they came up just short. PHI 2 – PIT 1

Montreal (0-3-1) @ Boston (4-0-0)

Montreal plays Boston for the second time in 48 hours and still can’t win. They stay defeated on the year. BOS 3 – MON 0

Edmonton (1-2-0) @ San Jose (1-1-1)

San Jose finally gets a win, as they bring in the young Oilers. SJS 5 – EDM 1

Notes: SJ D Brad Stuart injured his groin, will be out 3-4 weeks.

Vancouver(3-0-1) @ Nashville (2-2-0)

Vancouver goes in to Nashville and just browbeats Pekka Rinne, forcing him to give up more goals in one game than he has all year. VAN 4 – NSH 1

Buffalo stays perfect, as a defensive battle leads to a shootout win. BUF 2 – NYR 1 SO

Florida (2-2-0) @ Tampa Bay (1-2-0)

The Battle of Florida heats up, as the Panthers take the first matchup between the two teams. FLA 2 – TBL 1

Vancouver (3-1-1) @ Columbus (4-0-0)

he Blue Jackets welcome the Canucks, and take them down for their fourth win in a row. CBJ 4 – VAN 2

Winnipeg (1-2-0) @ Washington (4-1-0)

Winnipeg gets taken down by the red hot Capitals. WSH 5 – WIN 2

Edmonton (2-2-0) @ Anaheim (2-1-1)

Edmonton woke up from their loss last night, beat the Ducks. EDM 4 – ANA 1

Ottawa (2-0-2) @ New Jersery (1-2-1)

New Jersey finally gets a win, albeit through the shootout. NJD 3 – OTT 2 SO
