The former No. 1 pick back in 2009 by the Clippers, Griffin will become one of the more sought after free agents on the market this offseason after leaving just under $21.4 million on the table with LA. It’s expected that the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets will be making a big push for the 28-year-old forward.
Griffin has dealt with a number of injuries over the past fews seasons with the Clippers which has limited his contributions. This included a season-ending toe injury during game three of this past year’s playoffs which ultimately resulted in a first round ouster at the hands of the Utah Jazz.
Still though despite the health setbacks, Griffin has made the most of his time on the floor never averaging below 18 points a game.
Griffin’s decision to opt out could just be a precursor. As it stands right now, Chris Paul is also expected to opt out of his deal as well while J.J. Redick will already be on the market.
