Robert Lewandowski won’t be curtailed in his dream to play for Real Madrid.
According to the Daily Mail, the Bayern Munich star is looking to force his current club into a corner forcing them to sell the Polish international star and give him the opportunity to play for Real Madrid this summer in La Liga.
Unsurprisingly Real Madrid’s ears are perked.
Guillem Balague of SkySports notes that Real Madrid are prepping a ‘big sum’ for Lewandowski in the event they get an opportunity to buy the Polish star who has a no-buy-out clause with his current club.
“Let’s see what happens with Karim Benzema. They will try to keep him and sell Bale, although he doesn’t want to go. Robert Lewandowski wants to come to Real Madrid, we’ve been saying that on Revista de La Liga for months now.
“More and more details are coming out since he changed his agent. Now we are hearing through German media that he’s told his team-mates he wants to go to Real Madrid, all part of the same strategy to get out of Bayern Munich.
“They insist Lewandowski will not be leaving but Real Madrid are prepared to pay a big sum for him. So let’s see if Bayern sell, after all, they are not obliged as Lewandowski has no buy-out clause.
“I think the signing would give Real Madrid fire power, bringing Lewandowski in alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos spoke to Lewandowski in the past and tell him he should move to the Bernabeu, so the approval of Ronaldo is definitely worth having.
“With Marcos Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, Toni Kroos in midfield, Ronaldo, Lewandowski and a better Benzema, Real Madrid will have a very powerful offence next season, that’s for sure.”
Bayern Munich though has been reluctant to give any thought to the idea of selling their best player.
Niko Kovac – who’ll be replacing departing boss Jupp Heynckes at season’s end – has stated that Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has an ‘unswerving view’ on the matter and is determined to hold on to the Poland international. This despite Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi petitioning Bayern to agree to letting his client leave the club and pursue his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
Meanwhile for Lewandowski, he insists that despite the rampant reports of his desire to leave Bayern, he’s focused on currently trying to win with his current club in Munich.
‘Am I thinking about Real in terms of a transfer? No, not at all,’ he said in a recent interview.
‘For now, I am not thinking about it. The season isn’t over. We’re focusing on what is now. If you want to win the Champions League, you have to beat the best.
‘It will definitely be a tough fight. But I hope that we’ll play our brand of soccer and will be the better team.’
If Lewandowski were to in fact leave the Bavarians they’d have a hell of a time trying to compensate for the loss in offensive production. So far this season the 29-year-old Polish international has scored 39 goals and has been an extremely vital piece to Bayern’s march to the Bundesliga title this season.
