Round One
The Arizona Cardinals ended all the speculation surrounding the number one overall pick by making the right move and selecting Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray who was undoubtedly the best quarterback in this draft.
Never mind the myths surrounding a QB’s height in the NFL, Murray will make opposing defenses pay whether it’s with his feet or the arm. And it’s nothing against Josh Rosen who’ll probably end up being a fine QB in the NFL, Murray though, especially for the Cardinals given his history with Kliff Kingsbury and the scheme is something this franchise just couldn’t pass up.
Rounds Two and Three
Look out, while Kyler Murray is making plays on the offensive side of the ball, the Cardinals have quietly assembled possibly one of the better cornerback duos in the NFL. Byron Murphy was an absolute steal for Arizona with the 33rd overall pick and should provide a deadly combo alongside Patrick Peterson.
Meanwhile the Cardinals provided Murray with a new weapon in deep threat wide receiver Andy Isabella out of Massachusetts who is another excellent value pick at 62nd overall.
Arizona then capped off an amazing Day Two by taking Boston College defensive lineman Zach Allen whose versatility of being able to play both the inside and outside is really quite remarkable.
Rounds Four through Seven
Safety Deionte Thompson out of Alabama and guard Lamont Gaillard out of Georgia are probably the standout selections in rounds four through seven for the Cardinals who continued to get good value with their selections on Day Three.
Gaillard’s biggest impact will come with his run blocking ability while Thompson’s vision will provide Arizona some nice depth in their secondary.
Finally Keep an eye out for Hakeem Butler out of Iowa State as well whose 6-foot-5, 227 pound frame will give Murray a nice big target who won’t be easy to take down. This is backed up by his 19 20-plus yard receptions during college.
