Ervin Santana threw the first no-hitter for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 27 years as they beat the Cleveland Indians 3-1 from Progressive Field.
Santana struck out 10 and only allowed 2 base runners throughout the entire game. The base runners came off of an error to the lead-off man in the first inning and a walk in the eighth inning.
Things almost got away from Santana in the sixth inning but second baseman Howie Kendricks nice play helped preserve things for Santana.
This was the third no-hitter in the MLB this season. Minnesota’s Francisco Liriano threw one against the Chicago White Sox on May 3rd and Detroit’s Justin Verlander threw one just a few days later against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 7th.
