American League shuts out National League 3-0 in All-Star Game, Mariano Rivera named MVP

It wasn’t the shootouts that we’ve seen in years past but tonight’s All-Star Game was certainly a memorable one as the American League shout out the National League 3-0 from Citi Field in New York City. Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale picked up the win as he helped AL limit the senior circuit to just three hits throughout the entire game.

Miguel Cabrera, Adam Jones and Salvador Perez accounted for the American League runs scored as Joe Nathan locked things down in the 9th for the save.

The highlight of the night though came in the 8th inning when legendary Yankees closer Mariano Rivera made his final All-Star Game appearance. With Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” blaring over the Citi Field speakers Rivera promptly sat down the all three NL batters in order almost looking as dominant as ever.

Rivera was also named the All-Star Game MVP as home field in the World Series shifts to the American League come October.

What a sendoff though for one of the games best.
