Alex Rodriguez, one of baseball’s most polarizing figures has told ESPN’s Andrew Marchand that he will retire following the 2017 season.

As Marchand states, Rodriguez will play out the remaining years of his 10-year, $275 million dollar contract which he originally signed with the Yankees back in 2007.

While not totally endearing himself to New York fans, A-Rod had a bounce back season in 2015 after a PED scandal wiped out his entire 2014 campaign. Last year, Rodriguez hit 33 home runs with 86 RBIs and held an OPS of .842.

Currently sitting at 687 career home runs A-Rod will probably have put together back-to-back 30-plus home run seasons if he wishes to surpass Barry Bonds for the all-time mark.
