The MLB Network recently made a graphic comparing some of the ages between the 2016 Cubs who went on to win the World Series and the 2024 Tigers who made history by overcoming an 8.0 game deficit in August to make the Postseason.
Sure, comparisons like this are a stretch. However, they’re still fun to look at, especially after fans are really still trying to make sense of what the Tigers have done this season. Can the Tigers replicate the Cubs’ run of 2016? Sure, anything is possible, especially at this point, being one of the final teams left standing. Not to mention, it’s encouraging to see a comparison like this when you consider just how young the Tigers’ roster is, the position they’re in, and general hope for sustainability over a possible core and more long-term success.
