It looks as though the hammer of Bud Selig will finally fall on the head of Alex Rodriguez or so that’s what we continue to anticipate.
ESPN’s T.J. Quinn and Andrew Marchand report that Major League Baseball will suspend the embattled Yankees third baseman Rodriguez “likely through” the entire 2014 season. And in addition the League will also suspend “around 12” other players (up from 8) who are in some way connected to Anthony Boesch’s Biogenesis Clinic in southern Florida.
A-Rod though passed on an opportunity to avoid a lifetime ban in which he would’ve had to subject himself to an MLB arbitrator and their decision on his ultimate fate. It’s also expected that Rodriguez and his lawyer will personally appeal any suspension handed down however in turn Major League Baseball will still declare him ineligible to play citing the facade that him being gone is good for the game.
The Yankees may or may not have a facade going themselves as Joe Girardi has recently come forward saying that Rodriguez has been “penciled in” for Monday’s lineup.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
