The Pac-10 just simply isn’t seen as a basketball power conference.
However that message failed to get to the#5 seed Arizona who hammered the reigning National Champions and #1 seed Duke in the the West Regional semi-final Thursday night. Arizona will now go on to play UConn on Saturday.
Coming out of the half being down by six and as much as eleven throughout the game, the Wildcats shot 59 percent from the field were 3-for-5 from 3-point range in the second half.
Wildcat sophomore Derrick Williams led Arizona scorers with 32 points with 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting and had 13 rebounds.
Duke freshman Kyrie Irving led the Blue Devils off the bench with 28 points, but it was the Duke defense that began to take on water. Arizona was able to put up 30 points in the paint while Duke only had 22. For the game Duke was only 9-of-15 from 3.
