Soccer: Costa Rica Will Protest 1-0 Loss to US

According to Reuters, the Costa Rican National soccer team will protest their 1-0 loss to the United States played in a whiteout snowstorm in Colorado.

The gripe from comes form what the Costa Rican’s believe to be not “legal conditions”, as snow was falling heavily and visibility was limited to less than the length of the pitch.

The only accommodations that were made for the game was in the 55th minute, the officials briefly stopped the game to shovel the key lines in the goal areas at both ends of the field. In addition to the shoveling, a purple ball was used instead of the a normal white one.

No word if their protest will result in any changes to the game. The Costa Ricans are requesting to have the match played over, but it is unlikely that the protest will change the outcome or result in a redo.
