Cardinals rout Giants 8-3, one win away from World Series

The defending champion St. Louis Cardinals are one win away from back-to-back World Series as they defeated the San Francisco Giants 8-3 tonight from Busch Stadium.

Adam Wainwright was stellar for the Cardinals throwing seven innings of four hit, one run baseball as the St. Louis offense roughed up Tim Lincecum for four runs over 4.2 innings.

Matt Holliday who hasn’t had much success against Lincecum was good for 2 RBIs tonight after managing just one RBI in 34 at-bats against the San Francisco starter.

The Cardinals will now try and punch their ticket to the World Series to face the Tigers Friday night at 8PM ET on FOX.
