It’s finally that time football fans! Week one of the college football season and it all starts tonight with South Carolina and Vanderbilt. I’m going to be giving you all the predictions from The Champ and myself (Downtown) of Inside the Huddle for this first week of the season. So without further delay here we go!
#9 South Carolina at Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt is a young-experienced team that is bringing back plenty of starters for their offense and defense. Aside from their returning starters, they’re playing at home and it’s almost a guarantee that Vanderbilt Stadium will be getting loud! When the ball is kicked and the game gets underway expect both teams starting RB’s in Zac Stacey for Vanderbilt and Marcus Lattimore of South Carolina to have huge games. Lattimore is getting the “Heisman Hopeful” stamp next to his name while Stacey is getting “mid-round draft pick” next to his. Either way both players are going to be running the ball a lot so again expect these two to have big games. However, the difference maker in my eyes is the South Carolina defense and I think that’s what will save South Carolina from an upset.
Downtown: South Carolina (31-21)
The Champ: South Carolina (28-17)
Colorado State vs. Colorado
This is a game that I’ve always enjoyed as a fan and I decided to put it up on our predictions. Will it get a lot of attention from the whole country? Probably not. But still I enjoy watching CSU vs. CU and I will for sure be clicking back and forth to this game Saturday.
Downtown: Colorado (24-21)
The Champ: Colorado (27-14)
Miami (FL) at Boston College
Consider this a rivaly game as these two teams always kickoff the season against one another. Boston College is looking to remain somewhat strong on defense after losing starting MLB Luke Kuechly. With that said though expect the Miami offense to have somewhat of a field day in a high scoring game.
Downtown: Miami (FL) (34-21)
The Champ: Miami (FL) (35-31)
Kentucky at #25 Louisville
The good UK-UL Rivalry…I have no idea what it’s actually called but just go with it. Kentucky the team that is like Conference USA in the SEC while Louisville is like Conference USA in the Big East. Expect something here…I’m just not sure what.
Downtown: Louisville (24-21)
The Champ: Kentucky (28-21)
Tennessee at North Carolina State
I thought this was an intriguing match-up and I think Tennessee is going to have a pretty good season. Expect the same from NCSU who has a pretty good defense for being in the ACC.
Downtown: Tennessee (Peyton Manning)
The Champ: NCSU
Georgia Tech at #16 Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech should run everywhere on the field but the Virginia Tech will keep them in check from scoring.
Downtown and The Champ: VA Tech
#24 Boise State at #13 Michigan State
Boise State lost Kellen Moore finally…now they finally go back to being completely terrible. Goodbye Boise and hello East Lansing. LeVeon Bell goes crazy!
Downtown: MSU (28-24)
The Champ: MSU (no score)
#8 Michigan vs. #2 Alabama
Well here we go..game of the year? Probably. Denard gets kept in check and Alabama just does what they do. Enough said Michigan fans from a Michigan fan.
