This was the Olympics that Brazil was to win theirfirst ever (which is still hard to believe) with their start laden lineup.
Mexico however had different plans as they defeated the Brazilians 2-1 capturing their first Olympic soccer gold medal in the country’s history.
Mexico’s Oribe Peralta just about single-handedly destroyed Brazil’s hopes by scoring both of Mexico’s goals. Despite holding the edge in possession Brazil simply couldn’t capitalize on their chances scoring their first goal at the start of extra time.
Nonetheless Mexico sits atop the soccer world (at least for the time being) while Brazil goes back to the drawing board by probably firing their head coach Mario Menezes and looking ahead to 2016 when the games head to Rio.
