At this point in the season, the Edmonton Oilers only have two more points now than what they did last season and Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal believes that GM Steve Tambellini “has to make a trade” shortly after the NHL unfreezes their rosters for the holiday season. (Dec. 19-27)

Ales Hemsky seems to be the name with the most trade buzz surrounding him and a team that could come calling is the Detroit Red Wings.

Like we mentioned a few days ago, it’s believed that Wings GM Ken Holland is a big fan of Hemsky and given the fact that the Wings could use another top line scorer and have the cap space to accommodate Hemsky’s $4.1 million dollar salary Detroit certainly seems like the most logical destination.

Kyle Turris on the Wings’ radar?

According to TSN.ca’s Darren Dreger, Phoenix forward Kyle Turris may have a new home as early as tomorrow.

With that said though, are the Wings a possible destination for the young Coyotes forward?

The Ottawa Senators seems to be the top team in the mix with Columbus not far behind. Dreger says that Detroit, Calgary and Winnipeg are not reported to be in the mix.
