Washington forward Joel Ward scored the game winning goal for the Capitals Wednesday night sending the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins to an early offseason and the Capitals to the second round.
Unfortunately though in the wake of Ward’s most important career goal to date, idiocy took the Twitter realm by storm as small-minded people spewed their small-minded hate towards Ward who is black.

Now of course not every fan that commented was a Bruins fans so this shouldn’t be construed as Boston hate. It’s just extremely disappointing that what should’ve been a banner night for Ward was marred by mindless idiots.
