Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson is stepping up his game this NFL season with more than just on-field performance—he’s wearing custom cleats that serve as a moving tribute to his late friend, Kyren Lacy. Robertson commissioned renowned artist Joe Castro to immortalize Lacy’s memory on his footwear. The cleats, featuring Lacy’s likeness from his time at LSU, were completed in just six hours and are set to debut in the Lions’ season opener.

Robertson, who grew up with Lacy in Thibodaux, Louisiana, described him as a younger brother. The sudden passing of Lacy in April—shortly before the NFL Draft—hit Robertson hard.

The cleats showcase a portrait of Lacy in action during his LSU days—where he amassed 17 touchdowns over three seasons—a testament to his athletic prowess and friendship with Robertson.
