Michigan State’s Blake Treadwell and Tyler Hoover may be out for the rest of the season with injuries

Michigan State got some bad news as they prepare to face Michigan this Saturday from Spartan Stadium.

According to Greg Johnson of the Grand Rapids Press, returning starter Tyler Hoover and center Blake Treadwill (starting first three games of the season) will be out against Michigan this weekend and quite possibly the rest of the season due to injury.

Head coach Mark Dantonio said a medical redshirt isn’t out of the question if both players don’t return in three weeks.

Blake Treadwill is the son of former MSU offensive coordinator Don Treadwill who left the team to take a head coaching job with Miami (OH) during the offseason was injured when he sprained his knee against Notre Dame.

Hoover has been suffering from a cracked rib since the season opener against Youngstown State. The junior was redshirted as a freshman and will need to apply to the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility.

Despite the injury to Hoover, Michigan State remains deep at defensive end with Will Gholston and redshirt freshman Marcus Rush as the primary starters.

In other injury news, Dantonio doesn’t expect sophomore wide receiver Bennie Fowler to play this weekend against Michigan as well. Fowler has been dealing with a foot injury all week.
