Lions wideout Jameson Williams will not face charges following a traffic stop back in October in which police found a gun underneath his seat.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy released the following statement citing Williams’ brother’s CPL and the fact that Jameson’s gun wasn’t on his person when the stop was made.

The Detroit Police Department is conducting a separate investigation into the actions of the officers involved, particularly the supervisors who allowed Williams to leave just before he was about to be booked. It is currently unclear what the results of that investigation are or whether it has concluded. However, it may be challenging to take disciplinary action against the officers, especially in light of Worthy’s decision not to pursue charges. Additionally, the supervising officers seemingly acted correctly by ensuring they understood the law rather than letting their egos dictate their actions, which is a departure from what we have seen in similar cases in the past.
